CANDIDATE QUESTIONNAIRE

PEKIN CITY COUNCIL

3. What has motivated you to seek this office?

Rick Hilst: Did not respond to the questionnaire.

Karen Hohimer: I have always loved being a volunteer/helper and started thinking about running for a council seat about 4 years ago but since my husband was a city employee, I decided to wait till he retired so there would be no question as to my motives for running. I do not have "one" particular reason for running other than I love my community and hope to be a positive influence when making those hard decisions.

John Abel: New leadership in city hall, leadership not afraid to think outside the box, especially in finance and new revenue streams.

David Nutter: Having attended and participated in Council meetings for 2.5 years, reviewing committee and board minutes, talking to citizens and city employees it’s obvious. Pekin government needs enhanced leadership, teamwork and a pro-active and positive change.

Matthew T. Tucker (Tyler): Having been back in Pekin for the past 11 years, I have seen many areas in which we need to increase our pride in being a citizen of Pekin.  I want to se Pekin become a destination similar to Galina or Sandwich or many of the neighborhoods of Chicago which reminds me of Downtown Pekin.
